The fundamental principles of servant leadership are centered around the idea of service to others. The servant leader is someone who puts the needs of others first and works to help them reach their full potential. This type of leader is often motivated by a desire to make a difference in the lives of others and works to create a positive and supportive environment in which people can thrive. Servant leaders have a strong moral compass and a deep commitment to justice and fairness. They are often good at building relationships and fostering collaboration (Andrews et al., 2020).
The two qualities of servant leadership are empathy and altruism. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It is the ability to see the world from another person’s perspective and to understand their feelings. Altruism is the unselfish concern for the welfare of others. It is the desire to help others without any expectation of personal gain. Being a servant leader requires having a clear vision and purpose for the future. This means that servant leaders must be able to articulate their goals and objectives in a way that inspires and motivates others to follow them. Servant leaders must also be able to build trust with those they lead. This requires being transparent and honest with others and being open to feedback.
Empathy and altruism are two important qualities that support interprofessional communication in providing patient care. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person.
