Introduction with thesis statement.
Body- Typical Development- four topics (physical, intellectual, linguistic, and social/emotional, describe the typical developmental milestones and standards for children across the age span of birth to eight years old. For each of the four domains include an example of how knowing and understanding typical development assists ECE professionals in assessment practices and developing accommodations.
Specific Need/Disability- Identify, describe, and discuss one specific special need and how having this disability might affect the child’s growth and development across the age span of birth to eight years old.
Accommodations- Take the role of the teacher in a mixed age classroom of three- to five-year-olds and describe what changes should be made in the environment to include a child with special needs (the disability chosen above). Include four examples of changes to the room arrangement, activity access, ability of all children to complete the activities, and accommodations to material and equipment.
Connections to IDEA/ADA- Address two specific areas where IDEA and/or the ADA laws would affect the inclusion of children with special needs and why it is important for programs to be aware of these laws.
Conclusion- include how to use information when moving forward.
